4 Days Baliem Valley Tour

The Dani tribe is a tribe that inhabits a region of the Baliem Valley that has been known for hundreds of years as a tribe that has skilled farmer and has used complex tools such as used stone axes, knives made from animal bones, bamboo and also spears made using well-known quarry that is very strong and heavy.

Meanwhile, the Dani tribe still wears a ” koteka ” (male genital cover) made of pumpkin and women wear wah clothes from grass/fibers and live in “honai-honai” (hay-roofed huts). They still also conduct major and religious ceremonies, though mock tribal wars are still carried out while not as great as before.

DAY-01 : ARRIVAL JAYAPURA – WAMENA – NORTHERN BALIEM VALLEY (L/D)
Departure from Jayapura to Wamena at 10.00 by Trigana Air and upon arrive at Wamena airport meet and greet with your guide. Then we drive in 35 minutes to Sogokmo village at southern part of Baliem valley, and start to have a day trek for about 4-5 hours through Dani sweet potatoes gardens and beautiful countryside and traditional houses of Dani people. Enjoy the gorgeous scenery surrounding. Enjoy the beautiful nature setting and crossing a bridge over Baliem river. Along the trail you will meet local people with friendly smile in their traditional clothes, After picnic lunch heading back to Sogokmo where the car will pick you up to Wamena and then proceed to Baliem Pilamo Hotel for overnight. Dinner will serve at Sinabung Jaya restaurant.

DAY-02 : WAMENA – JIWIKA (PIG Feast And Dance) – WAGA WAGA – WAMENA (B,L,D)
After breakfast at Local house, Obia village is one of the Dani’s village which still preserved their old way of life. Penis gourd, grass skirt and round shape house (Honai. Here we will held Pig Feast and Dance. These 2 attractions allow you to have an insight view of the prehistoric age culture. In the past, any kind of problem can erupt a big war between tribes. it can be women, land possession, pig, etc. A war usually ends temporary until one party get loose. Today they will show us how the tribal war look like. All adult me will come to the battle field with their body ornaments. Spear, arrow, bone knifes are taken by them. After the war end, they will kill a pig and cooked together. Another interesting attraction of the Dani tribe, they cook the pork together with some sweet potatoes, grass and vegetables on the hot stones. Almost no ingredients added. This cooking can take about 2 hours or so. Lunch will have at Local house. Late afternoon we proceed to Sumpaima village where we will see a 250 years old Mummy at one of the old house here. Also will visit the natural cave at Wosilimo village it’s around 20 minutes from Sumpaima. Late afternoon drive back to Baliem Pilamo Hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

DAY-03 : WAMENA – JAYAPURA (B,L,D)
After breakfast at hotel, Departure from Wamena to Jayapura. Upon your arrival at Sentani airport of Jayapura. Continue with a sightseeing Jayapura of visit Mc. Arthur war memorial, Boating to Sentani lake to visit Sentani Tribe in Asei Island, lunch is served at Local Restaurant nearby the Lake. After Lunch please visit Pemancar it’s the highest hill in Jayapura to over looking down town of Jayapura. Late afternoon check in at Horizon Hotel in Jayapura. If is time still available we offer you to swim to the beautiful beach of Base G, Dinner will serve at Blue Cafe which it’s facing to Pasific Ocean

DAY-04 : JAYAPURA – DEPARTURE (B)
After breakfast at your hotel, transfer to airport for your leaving Jayapura.
