12 Days Lore Lindu Trekking Tour

Lore Lindu National Park is a forest protected area in Central Sulawesi province, it offers a great adventure trip for Lore Lindu Trekking Tour. The national park is covering both lowland and montane forests with size of 2,180 km². One of the great thing about Lore Lindu is habitat to numerous rare species, including 77 bird Sulawesi endemic species. UNESCO has designated the park to be part of the UNESCO World Network of Biosphere Reserves.

Beside to its rich wildlife, megaliths are spreaded accross the park dated from before 1300 AD. We can found over 400 granite megaliths within the park and 30 of it represent human forms. They are vary in sizes from a few centimeters to 4.5 meters. Till this day, no one ever knows what the purpose of the megalith. Other megaliths are in form of large pots (Kalamba) and stone plates (Tutu’na). Various archaeological who have come to the park, study about the megalith and they mentioned that the megalith is coming from 3000 BC to 1300 AD.

Lore Lindu National Park has 117 villages, from which 62 are located on the borders of the park and one is within the park. The local population belongs to the Kaili, Kulawi and Lore ethnic groups. And it offers great adventure trip for Lore Lindu Trekking Tour.

ITINERARY

Day 01 : PALU
Arrivaing at Palu Airport, You’ll be met and taken to Palu Golden Hotel for your accommodation . A city tour in the afternoon.

Day 02 : Palu – Kamarora
After breakfast, you will depart by 4WD car for Kamarora, hearquarters of Lore Lindu National Park. Arriving mid-morning, you can spend the day exploring the nearby jungle.

Day 03 : KAMARORA – WATUTAU
Leaving after an early breakfast, you will drive to Watutau, a small village in the Napu Valley, enjoying panoramic scenery en route. Arriving early afternoon, you can walk to the village over a rattan hanging bridge and spend the rest of the afternoon exploring the village.

Day 04 : WATUTAU – TORITE
Today you will cruise the Lariang River to the village of TOrire, observing on the way many species of water birds. Arriving at midday, the afternoon is yours to explore the village.

Day 05 : TORIRE – BESOA VALLEY
Leaving early, you will trek ( 04 hours ) through forest to the Besoa Valley, spending the night at either Bariri or Doda village.

Day 06 : BESOA VALLEY
Today you will tour the valley, examining some of the curious stone megalithic that dot the area.

Day 07 : BESOA VALLEY – BADA VALLEY
Spend a whole day trekking through thick forests, perhaps en route catching sight of the strange dwarf buffalo ( Anoa ).

Day 08 : BADA VALLEY – GINTU
Another day of trekking. First to the Sepe Plateau to see the giant Megalith “Palindo”. then to Gintu Village, capital of the Bada district. Here, the local people will greet you with dinner and a traditional dance.

Day 09 : GINTU – TENTENA
Today you will drive 6-8 hours along scenic unsealed mountain roads to Lake Poso, arriving at Tentena late afternoon. Night will be spend at Siurri Cottage ( lakeshore accommodation ).

Day 10 : TENTENA – BANCEA – PENDOLO
Arriving at Bancea after a 3-hour cruising on the Poso Lake by motorized canoe. A tour to the Bancea forest to view the orchids. Proceed to Pendolo for check-in to Mulia Poso Lake hotel.

Day 11 : PENDOLO – PALU ( or TORAJA )
Set out earlier morning to drive to Palu
Late afternoon arrive in Palu, check-in at Palu Golden hotel.

Day 12 : PALU – UJUNGPANDANG ( or Manado )
On time transfer to Airport to catch the onward flight
